Top 5 Dreamcatcher Songs

Dreamcatcher is probably one of my favorite kpop groups. They have a different aura to them and focus more on a darker image. Their sound is completely different than any of the other girl groups that I have heard. Their image is more like the things of nightmares. They have dark tones that really appealed to me as a unique spin on kpop. However, the first thing that caught my attention was the choreography and the synchronicity of the group. The first time that I had heard about Dreamcatcher was on an episode of Weekly Idol. On the episode, the group performed a 2x speed dance of You & I as well as covered Infinite’s The Eye. When watching, their synchronicity is what caught my attention first. Then, the song itself. It was very catchy (even at double speed). Then to top the entire performance off with The Eye, it was beautiful. Anyway, I guess I should get into the top 5 songs of Dreamcatcher. I’d like to hear what your favorite Dreamcatcher song is.

Number 5: Breaking Out

Breaking Out is one that I just recently found, and I must say it absolutely did not disappoint. Breaking Out is I believe their first Japanese song, but I am not 100% sure. With Breaking Out, the visuals are absolutely stunning. Of course the choreography is on point at all times as well. That will be a recurring thing in all these videos. Dreamcatcher’s choreography is probably the best of all the female groups in my opinion. They are more on the technical side and more complicated. For a dancer like myself, choreography can make or break a music video. Breaking Out is very different than the other songs. Much like the songs states, it is breaking out of the dark night. It focuses more on lighter elements, with darker undertones. It is very well done. As I realized, I haven’t even mentioned the song itself. While staying true to Dreamcatcher’s music, the rock sound, they bring a new light to their music. Breaking Out is very catchy in itself, and makes me want to dance for days.

Number 4: Chase Me

Chase Me was the debut song of Dreamcather and I must say this is a song that can grab attention. Much to the appeal of the group, the dark concept of this group will grab attention for being completely different than your normal kpop girl group. Chase Me is composed of a dark theme with some killer choreography and great music accompany it. I feel like a broken record at this point, but Dreamcatcher’s music really speaks to me on all levels. The lyrics are great. The music is dynamic, and the choreography is on point. Now, I really wanted to mention the video as well. The video itself gives me vibes of the Shining. I don’t know if that is what they were going for, but every time that I watch the video all I can think about is how creepy the video is and how much it reminds me of Stephen King’s The Shining.

Number 3: Deja Vu

Deja Vu is Dreamcatcher’s latest song. Although quite repetitive, it is an amazing song. Given the title, I will allow the repetition to slide. The most notable thing that I take away from Deja Vu is the stunning visuals. The contrast of colors against the darkness of the group. The fantasy vibes given are also right up my alley. My favorite shot is at the end when it shows the double moon, one purple, and one red-orange. It is hard to get out of my head. I find this song stuck in my head every time I hear it. Deja Vu is visually my favorite video.

Number 2: You & I

You & I is the song that introduced me into the dark world of Dreamcatcher, so it will always have a special place in my heart. However, that is not the only reason why it is so high on the top 5 list. Again, with this video, the visuals are so beautiful. The contrast of the red and white handkerchiefs against the white clothing choice and snow is absolutely stunning. Aside from the video itself, the choreography is also amazing. It is complex and beautiful with phenomenal transitions. This dance speaks to me in every way.

Number 1: Good Night

This is my all time favorite song of Dreamcatcher. In my opinion, it doesn’t need anything else. The song speaks for itself. The video is super dark and is actually a continuation of Chase Me. The story is a little less The Shining and a little more nightmare. The video was still stunningly made, and gave me the creeps in some places. It doesn’t help that a lot of times the girls look like porcelain dolls. I don’t like dolls. They give me the creeps! Anyway, the rock vibe of this song won me over from the beginning. So, I think no matter what Dreamcatcher comes up with next. This will forever be my favorite. Who knows though? Only time will tell.

So, I guess that is it for my Top 5 Dreamcather songs. I know pretty much every single song had the same reason. I guess the visual appeal and choreography is really what gave the top spots away. I did leave the Weekly Idol performance that got me hooked on Dreamcather below. I hope to see everyone next time!!
